Acer palmatum 'Sangokaku'
'Sango-kaku' has palm shaped orange-yellow leaves in spring, turning rich green in summer, turing yellow again in autumn. It has distinctive coral-red shoots and bark for all year interest.
Grow in a moist but well-drained soil. The foliage colour is best in part shade, although full sun can be tolerated. Leaf scorch can by caused by dry soil or excessive exposure to frost, sun or wind when leaves are young. Will reach a height of 6m and a spread of 5m after 10-20 years.
